Recent Express Entry draw
In the July 5 Express Entry draw for invitations to apply for permanent residency, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada issued invitations to 3,750 Healthcare professionals. This was the third draw within a single-week period in July 2024. The last rounds held by IRCC invited trade occupations and, before that, the invites were focused on Provincial Nominee Programs.
CRS score expectations 2024
As this round was category-based, it may not be the most accurate reflection of CRS score predictions for Express Entry occupations of applicants who are not healthcare professionals. The score breakdown is as follows:
- The CRS score of the candidate with the lowest rank was 445 out of 1200 points.
- The last round of healthcare occupations invites were sent out in February 2024. The lowest CRS score in that round was 422 out of 1200 points.
Category-based selections
These rounds are based on three main criteria:
- Ability to communicate in a specific official language
- Work experience in a specific occupation
- Education
These selections are targeted to meet outlined, specific economic goals.
Categories are chosen by IRCC based on:
- The condition of the labour market;
- Consultations that IRCC conducts with provinces, territories, stakeholders, and partners.
Express Entry categories as defined in 2024
The current categories that exist for those seeking invitations to apply to permanent residency through the Express Entry system include:
- French-language proficiency
- Healthcare occupations
- Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) occupations
- Trade occupations
- Transport occupations
- Agriculture and agri-food occupations
Eligibility for category-based rounds
The eligibility for this type of round is based on whether:
- You qualify for 1 of 3 Express entry programs, including:
- Federal Skilled Worker Program
- Federal Skilled Trades Program
- Canadian Experience Class
- Meet all the instructions specified by the Minister for each round.
