What is the process to qualify for the Brandon RNIP?
Similar to the other offshoots of the RNIP program, it is important that the applicant meets the federal requirements..
Once the federal requirements are met, the process is as follows:
- Application to a qualifying job.
- Securing a job offer from the qualified employer.
- Be called for an interview with the community panel.
- If the community panel selection committee chooses you, you will receive a recommendation from them.
- With the recommendation, you may apply for permanent residence.
What is the Brandon RNIP community-specific criteria?
Once you meet the federal requirements, it is important to ensure that you meet the community requirements. This criteria is judged on a points system.
- Language proficiency – 15 points
- For those with NOC Category 0 & 1: CLB / NCLC 6
- For those with NOC Category 2 & 3: CLB / NCLC 6
- For those with NOC Category 4 & 5: CLB / NCLC 4
- Spouse language proficiency above CLB /NCLC 4 – 8 points
- Completion of post-secondary program in Brandon that was at least 2 years long in the past 12 months – 10 points
- Spouse’s completion of post secondary program in Brandon that was at least 2 years long in the past 12 months – 5 points
- Applicant earning wages and employed in Manitoba – 20 points
- Applicant has full-time paid job that they have had for 6 months when applying – 5 points
- Applicant’s spouse has full-time paid job that they have had for 6 months when applying – 5 points
- Applicant has lived in Brandon for 6 consecutive months at least in past 3 years – 5 points.
- Applicants with:
- Close family connections in Brandon – +10 points for each connection
- Medium family connection – +5 points for each connection
- Friend – +2 points for each
