The RNIP offshoot in North Bay, Ontario has a set of community-based requirements for an applicant to be eligible for the program.
This program covers the following areas: North Bay, Callander, Powassan, East Ferris, Bonfield, West Nipissing and some unorganized townships.
Before beginning their application, the applicant must ensure that they meet all federal requirements for the RNIP, including education, language, work experience, and fund available factors that will be considered while making a decision about the applicant’s file.
Then, the candidate must consider community-specific criteria to qualify for the North Bay program.
Community-specific criteria
The candidate must have:
- A genuine job offer in a qualifying place of employment in the North Bay area.
- All the qualifying jobs available are listed on the North Bay RNIP Qualifying Jobs page
- The candidate must have work experience that is consistent with the duties required of the qualifying job that they’re applying to.
- The candidate can apply to a job not listed in the Qualifying Jobs section. In this care, however, they must inform their employer to contact the committee making the recommendation decisions.
- All applicants who apply through the program must be available for a 15 to 30 minute video interview after securing a job offer from an approved employer.
You must have a job offer to receive a recommendation from the community.
Once an applicant submits their application and meets all the requirements, they are placed in a pool of applicants. They will remain in the pool for six months, after which the applicant will have to reapply if they wish to be reconsidered.
What occupations under the North Bay RNIP will hire foreign workers?
The North Bay RNIP has highlighted specific National Occupation Classification (NOC) listings to detail the professions that hire foreign workers. The chosen NOC codes are as follows:

Discretion in community-based application
- All decisions made by the community’s committee will be made on a discretionary basis.
- If you have experience in a field that is not listed above, the community could still make a decision based on their internal discussions.
What if I am already employed in the community?
- If the business that has hired the candidate can become eligible after the candidate applies for a recommendation.
- The employer must prove that they searched for candidates who have Canadian permanent residency or citizenship before hiring the foreign worker.
